InterBel offers a new free service known as Robo-Call Blocker. - Works great and will nearly put an end to all Robo-Calls ringing to your home or business.

If you’re interested, call InterBel Customer Service at 889-3311 and give it a try. It’s free (no set-up or monthly charge and you can cancel anytime). NOTE: It only works with InterBel “landline service” and has no effect on your cell phone number.

The service is very accurate but not 100%, whereby some unknown numbers may slip past including some of our own InterBel numbers (889, 882 and 297) which may be “spoofed to make it look like a local call.” Robo-Call Blocker prevents calls which originate from computerized auto-dialers, known spammers and fraudulent or nuisance callers. It does not block live callers or robocalls from legitimate sources such as schools, doctor offices or emergency systems.

Another free service worth looking into (for those who haven’t already) is the FCC “Do Not Call List.”

This program has been around for the last 10 years and if you already registered for your home, business or cell phone number in the past, you won’t need to do it again. Otherwise, if you have a phone number and want to register it on the Do Not Call List (to prevent Robo-Calls and other unwanted callers), follow either of these instruction methods:

1. The Do Not Call Registry accepts registrations from both cell phones and land lines. To register by telephone, call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY: 1-866-290-4236).

Unwanted calls and complaints, for those who are on the Do Not Call List, can be filed with the FCC.

It’s a worthwhile exercise to write down the unwanted call phone numbers and turn them in, if you have time. We have seen some huge fines this last couple of years from companies violating the law and contacting people listed on the Do Not Call List.
